SUMMARY:Doors Open Toronto 2026
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nEach May\, Doors Open Toronto invites the public to explore the city’s most-loved buildings and sites\, free of charge. The event provides rare access to buildings that are not usually open to the public and free access to sites that would usually charge an admission fee. Since its inception in 2000\, it has attracted more than two million visits to nearly 700 unique locations and remains the largest event of its kind in Canada. \n\n2026 Theme:  The World in a City\nAs Toronto prepares to welcome fans across the globe to the FIFA World Cup 26™\, Doors Open looks at the people\, places and stories that make the city a global mosaic. Featuring guided neighbourhood tours\, insightful talks and more than 150 buildings and sites\, Doors Open considers the histories\, cultures and nations that continue to shape the city. \nWith more than half of its population born overseas\, Toronto is one of the most multicultural cities in the world. This Doors Open looks at how diversity has been Toronto’s strength since its founding. \nWhether through architecture inspired from global cultures\, histories that reflect the many societies and traditions who call Toronto home or the ways in which buildings act as community gathering spaces\, this Doors Open considers Toronto’s past and future\, together. \n \n\nAbout the Weston Masonic Temple\nVisitors will be welcomed by a volunteer and have an opportunity to participate in a self-guided tour\, or join a guided tour conducted by one of the lodge historians. In the banquet hall\, the centre will also be hosting the Weston Historical Society who will be displaying historical items and providing information on the rich history of the Weston community. \nThis is one of the few remaining Masonic buildings still in operation in the city of Toronto. We celebrated the 100th anniversary of the erection of this historic building in the Weston Village in 2024. The anchor tenant\, Humber Lodge\, was instituted in 1874\, and recently celebrated its 150th anniversary.  The main lodge room is steeped in the history of the area with many furnishings\, photos and other items that date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. \nThe facility has gone through renovations a few years ago\, as well as some recent exterior improvements. The Masons have a long history in the Weston community and have participated in Doors Open in past years\, and are excited to participate once again this year. \nview of the altar inside the\nWeston Masonic Temple Lodge Room
