As part of Humber Lodge’s 150 Anniversary taking place in 2024, we will be sharing excerpts from historical documents and photos from the archives.
History was made on Saturday, June 8, 2024, as a monument was unveiled and dedicated celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Weston Masonic Temple and the 150th anniversary of Humber Lodge. This year marks 150 years of Freemasonry in Weston.
A group consisting of Masonic brethren, family and friends were in attendance for the ceremony outside of the temple building.
After the Ceremony brethren, family and friends retired to the banquet hall for a celebration luncheon with many toasts, speeches and presentations. The city councillor for York South Weston, Frances Nunziata was in attendance to present ceremonial scrolls from the municipal and provincial governments, and she also shared some of her personal memories of the lodge as her father was a former member of Humber Lodge. But the highlight of the luncheon was the announcement that the banquet hall was to be renamed the Maddison Room in honour of R.W. Brother Gerald K. Maddison in recognition of all his hard work and dedication as a member of the lodge and temple board for over 40 years.
